My interest in choreography started when I began having a class named Composition and Improvisation at the National Conservatory of Lisbon, since then I have been creating as much as I can and learning about the art of choreography.

To exchange ideas, to give your creativity and to get inspiration. All of these shared between the people involved in the creation brings the interest of choreographing. Never stop learning, a constant study and analysis of movement, emotions, physicality and personalities.

Intima
July 2015

"Opening the evening, Intima, Ana Isabel Casquilho, was a work about self-discovery through touching and being touched by another. Focusing on the haptic sense, the work oscillated between the curious sensual touch of young bodies and the functional touch of choreographed partnering."

Keep in Touch
May 2014

Nominated for the IT's Kristina de Châtel Award 2015

"The duet Keep in touch from Ana Isabel Casquilho (also Codarts) has that content. Two people are trapped in an impossible relationship. The duet is accompanied by musician David Nigro who impresses with his piano playing. He strums not only the keys but also the strings of the piano. Casquilho also works with language and let her male dancer, Jakub Medrzycki speak Polish. We do not understand it. Keep in touch is a 'classical' work, it plays with stereotypical male and female roles as we see it more often in the dance. Jakub Medrzycki is a broad, strong dancer, dancer Alessandra Mazza is easily lifted in a few acrobatic positions. He carries her with two hands above his head and clenches her artfully between his legs. The acts of violence lurking. Slowly the anxious-looking woman comes out of her shell and offers resistance against the physical dominance of her partner. Keep in touch dramaturgy is very well organized and has a clear development."
